What is Archery Records?

Archery Records is a free tool for Archery GB clubs to log scores, track classifications and handicaps, earn badges, and manage records — all in one place. One person creates the club and shares an invite code so the rest of the club can join.

How do I create a club?

Sign up for an account, then choose 'Create a club'. Give it a name and you'll receive an invite code you can share with your members. You'll automatically become the club admin (records officer).

How do I join an existing club?

Sign up for an account and choose 'Join a club'. Enter the invite code your records officer or club admin has shared with you. You'll be added as a member immediately.

Can I be in more than one club?

Currently each archer belongs to one club at a time. If you need to switch clubs, update your profile with a new invite code.

How do I submit a score?

Go to 'Submit Score' from your dashboard. Select the round you shot, enter the date, your bow type, your total score, and optionally hits, golds, and inner tens. You can also upload a photo of your scoresheet as evidence.

What's the difference between a club session and a competition?

A club session is any practice or club shoot. A competition is an event with record status — this matters because some classifications and badges require at least one score to come from a competition.

What happens after I submit a score?

Your score goes into a 'pending' state. Your club's records officer (admin) reviews and approves it. Once approved, the system automatically checks for any badges you've earned and updates your handicap.

Can I edit a score after submitting?

Once submitted, scores can't be edited by the archer. If you made a mistake, ask your records officer — they can reject the score so you can re-submit it correctly.

What are Archery GB classifications?

Classifications are official levels of achievement recognised by Archery GB. They range from Archer 3rd Class (entry level) through Archer 2nd, Archer 1st, Bowman 3rd, Bowman 2nd, Bowman 1st, Master Bowman, Grand Master Bowman, up to Elite Master Bowman.

How do I earn a classification?

You need 3 qualifying scores at or above the threshold for that level. The number of dozens (arrows) required varies: Archer levels need 12 dozen, Bowman levels need 18 dozen at competition, and Master Bowman and above need 36 dozen at record status events.

Are indoor and outdoor classifications separate?

Yes. Indoor and outdoor classifications are assessed independently. You may hold different classification levels for each.

Do classifications carry over between seasons?

Classifications are reassessed each season. You keep your highest achieved classification as a 'claimed' level, but you may need to re-qualify each year depending on Archery GB's current rules.

What is a handicap?

An AGB handicap is a single number (0–150) that represents your ability, regardless of which round you shoot. A lower number means a better archer. It lets you compare performance fairly across different rounds.

How is my handicap calculated?

You need 3 approved scores to get an initial handicap. Each score maps to a handicap number based on official AGB lookup tables. Your initial handicap is the average of your best 3 score handicaps, rounded up.

How does my handicap improve?

After your initial handicap is set, if you shoot a score that maps to a better (lower) handicap, the improvement is halved: new handicap = current − (current − score handicap) ÷ 2, rounded up. This smooths out one-off good scores.

Can my handicap get worse?

Your handicap can only improve (go down) during a season — it never increases based on a poor score. It may be reassessed at the start of a new season.

What is the 252 badge scheme?

The 252 scheme awards badges for scoring 252 or more (for recurve) shooting 36 arrows at a single distance on a 122cm face. Different bow types have adjusted thresholds. Badges progress through colour levels (White, Black, Blue, Red, Gold, Green, Orange) as the distance increases.

How many qualifying scores do I need for a 252 badge?

You need qualifying scores from 2 separate sessions (different dates). This ensures consistency rather than rewarding a single lucky shoot.

What are Six Gold and Three Gold End badges?

A Six Gold End badge is awarded when you shoot 6 consecutive golds in a single end. A Three Gold End badge is for 3 consecutive golds. These are claimed when submitting your score.

How do I approve scores?

Go to the Admin section and open Approvals. You'll see all pending score submissions. Review the details (and any uploaded evidence), then approve or reject each one.
